Meet Your Experts

Dr. Cynthia Burrows is Distinguished Professor of Organic and Biological Chemistry at the University of Utah. She is also a Senior Editor with the Journal of Organic Chemistry. Her research interest is the heterocyclic bases of nucleic acids are rich targets for both toxins that damage DNA and drugs that interact with DNA and RNA. She has received many awards and letters and was named a 2010 ACS Fellow.

 

 

 

Dr. George Schatz is Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professor of Chemistry and of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Northwestern University.  He has published three books and over 620 papers. Dr. Schatz is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Physical Chemistry.  He has received numerous awards, is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Chemical Society and of the AAAS.  Dr. Schatz completed his postdoc at MIT and received a Ph. D. at Caltech and B. S. at Clarkson University, both in chemistry.
 

 

Michelle M. Francl, Ph.D. is a professor of chemistry at Bryn Mawr College, where she has been on the faculty for nearly twenty-five years.  She is a quantum chemist who has published in areas ranging from the development of methods for computational chemistry to the structures of topologically intriguing molecules.  She is also a writer whose essays on science, culture and policy have appeared in Nature Chemistry and in several collections.  She was elected a Fellow of the American Chemical Society in 2009.
