Meet The Speakers

At the local section level, Michael Mautino has been the Pittsburgh Section’s NCW Coordinator since 1999 and the CCED Coordinator since 2003, during which time the Pittsburgh Section has been the recipient of the ACS’s first CCED recognition award and 10 NCW-related ChemLuminary Awards. At the nationally level, Michael is a Past Chair of the Committee on Community Activities.




Andy Jorgensen is an associate professor of chemistry and is the director of general chemistry at the University of Toledo.  He has served on ACS’s Committee on Community Activities which included a role in coordinating Chemists Celebrate Earth Day.  He has been involved in the Toledo local section celebrations of CCED as well as National Chemistry Week.  He presently serves as vice-chair of ACS’s Society Committee on Chemical Education.  For several years he has coordinated Toledo’s Project Seed program.  He has given many presentations on climate change, including to ACS local sections.
